A webinar on European Accessibility Act. An overview of publishing industry standards

Training

The EU Directive 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services, the so-called European Accessibility Act (EAA), sets binding accessibility goals with which the publishing industry and its actors will have to comply by June 2025.

Not only publishers must produce their e-books in an accessible format, but also all the other actors in the digital supply chain – such as retailers, aggregators and e-commerce platforms (both web-based or mobile) – must ensure that the content is made available through accessible services, while providing to end users detailed information on its accessibility features. E-commerce platforms will be then required to be accessible in line with the EAA requirements.

The webinar: “European Accessibility Act. An overview of publishing industry standards for e-books, e-commerce platforms and accessibility metadata and their compliance with the EAA requirements

The webinar, organized by Fondazione LIA in collaboration with Italian Publisher Association (AIE), will analyze the EAA requirements that apply to e-book, e-commerce websites and apps, and the provision of accessibility information to end users.

It will then provide an overview of the standards adopted in the publishing industry for e-books, e-commerce platforms and metadata, highlighting how they are in line with the requirements of the Directive.
